The festival was actually founded by Swedish pianist Lennard Rabes way back in 1982.  It was originally called the Deal Summer Music Festival but has now been renamed to the Deal Festival of Music and Arts.
Deal Festival attracts performers from all over the world including the likes of the Russian Chamber Philharmonic of St Petersburg but to name one. Funding for the festival comes from a diverse range of places, The Arts Council, local and parish councils, individuals, trusts and foundations plus more.
The general public can help support the festival by becoming Patrons or Friends of the festival which gives added advantages of priority bookings, invites to festival receptions, concessions on ticket prices and lots more depending on which level you want to show your support at.

The organisers have made available maps showing the locations of each venue if you wish to carry a map of events during the festival.  They also actively encourage local musicians to take part in the festival by running musical competitions, open to all solo instrumentalists, singers and composers.  There will be performances by local youth organisations, The Hornbeam Primary School Samba Band, Canterbury Christ Church University Big Band, a Young Performers Platform and singing workshops in schools to name but a few.

An annual event not to be missed, so get yourself and family along to enjoy the Deal Festival.
