Deal Pier Weekly Fishing Report
Tide Table for Deal Pier If you have any photo's or reports you want to send over for inclusion on this page, please send an email to info@dealseafishing.com. If we get enough pictures I might even set up a separate page to display them. So come on lads and lasses, it's up to you. Weekly Report Seeing as I love this place and the beach area, it seems a good idea to incorporate a Deal Pier weekly fishing report into the site for the pier and surrounding beach area. There is one thing to be aware of and that's the pier is now only open all night on a Saturday night and opens from 8am until 7.30pm every other day. You can telephone the pier office for up to date information on 01304 363815 or Channel Angling at the entrance to the pier, that's Fred on 01304 373104. Don't forget that Channel Angling, Pleasure Angling and also John's Fishing Tackle are all now sponsoring the fish of the month competition run on the pier where you can win a £20 voucher to spend on tackle in each of the shops, making a grand prize total of £60 per month! If you are the winner just take proof of your identity to the three shops and you will receive your vouchers. The Deal Pier Weekly Fishing Report will be updated as often as possible. Week Ending Sunday 06/05/2012 This past week has been a bag of mixed fortunes unfortunatley. The water has turned dirty due to the north easterly winds blowing and this seems to have seen the Rays off for a while. The pier has produced Dogfish (lots), Whiting, Pouting, the odd Dab but very little else. Plenty of Doggies about if you like them, they do make excellent eating but a lot of anglers seem to disregard them as nothing more than a pest for some reason. The beaches have faired just as bad or good, depending on your point of view about the doggies.
Week Ending Saturday 28/04/2012 A few boards have been taken out by the waves again but not enough as yet to close the bottom deck off completely. Thankfully the tides are only small so no big damage has been done. Once this wind dies off the fishing should improve. There have been plenty of Dogfish, and Whiting caught this week but the Rays have been sparodic. There was a decent Ray caught last night (Friday) off the bottom deck. Week Ending Sunday 15/04/2012 Sandwich Bay has seen Dogfish and a few Rays this past week. After dark Sandgate has produced Dogfish but not a lot else. Brian Smith won the 'Heaviest Fish of the Month' competition on the pier with a nice Thornback weighing in at around the 7 1/2lb mark earning himself £60 worth of tackle from the local shops. There has been a fair number of Dabs, Dogfish and Whiting caught this past week and a couple of Cuckoo Wrasse for Jennifer Mount on the right hand side (Walmer) of the pier. One is rare but two to the same angler...a job well done. Last Thursday Kalvin Dodds took the lead in this months heaviest fish competition with a beautiful Thorney of around 11 1/2lb! The thornbacks are degfinitely in now and should be around until about July time. there has not a lot being caught off the beaches for the simple reason, not a lot of anglers have been on them, weatherb of course has been a bit erratic to say the least. Week Ending 10/04/2012 The pier has at last been producing a few rays to sandeel and worm baits. Dogfish, Dabs (still), and a few codling have been landed. This last weekend has produced a couple of good Rays, one of 11 1/2lb and another very near the same weight were landed on Saturday night by the same angler. There have been a few others but not quite of a similar weight to these. So looking good for some good sport and will improve once the Smoothounds move in.
As an aside to this, Fred who runs Channel Angling at the entrance to the pier has started to run a competition on Sundays, not all Sundays but depending on tides, other matches etc. It is getting quite a bit of local support, the more the merrier. Well done Fred on giving the local anglers a bit of interest and enjoyment. See HERE for more details. |
